Another New Year and time for yet another set of new year wishes for friends, family, loved ones and even not so loved ones!
I find it rather presumptuous for me to imagine that God is waiting in the heavens for my ‘instructions’ on what to shower on you during 2012 – be it good health, wealth or wisdom. God, I have known far too many times, brings on us what He has pre decided for each of us – whether good, bad or indifferent; and to expect that He is going to change that because some ravinder bhan made a wish to the contrary would be an insult to His indomitable powers.
Do I then wish nothing and let go of this opportunity to make you feel special and better by my wishes? No that’s not what I would like. My logic is simple : we have no control over God’s will, but we surely have a control on how to respond and cope with that. That’s why here is what I wish for you:
- May success not lead you to forget the bigger tests ahead.
- May failure not drive your confidence down
- May wealth not make you forget the times you were poor or needy
- May lack of wealth not make you feel like a loser!
- May disaster not panic you and deprive you of your ability to deal with it.
- May celebrations not make you forget the pile you will have pending back at work.
In short, may you know what is in your control and what is not. And in your focus on what you can not control, may you not lose sight of what you can!
